Torque wrenches are also called torque wrenches and torque wrenches. From the power source, they can be divided into electric, pneumatic and manual. This time we will analyze how to choose a manual torque wrench.

Torque wrenches are also called torque wrenches and torque wrenches. From the power source, they can be divided into electric, pneumatic and manual. This time we will analyze how to choose a manual torque wrench.

There are three types of manual torque wrenches commonly used in the industry: preset torque wrenches, digital torque wrenches, and dial torque wrenches (also called pointer type).

Each type of wrench has its own characteristics, and the occasions used are not the same. For example, the preset torque wrench is mainly used for the fastening of the preset value of the bolt, and the digital torque wrench and the dial torque wrench are generally used for Torque detection.

In general, the use of torque wrenches is mainly based on the precise control of the bolt force value.

1. Preset torque wrench

Advantages: The torque value is adjustable, the preset torque value is reached to prompt a "click" sound, and it is accompanied by a hand vibration alarm. The head ratchet head is divided into two series according to the brand, replaceable and non-replaceable, and the wrench has a relatively long service life. long.

Disadvantages: The force value cannot be displayed in real time during the force process and cannot be used to detect torque.

How to use: Due to different brand manufacturers, the way to adjust the torque is slightly different. There are pull-down unlocks to adjust the torque, and there are also tail knobs to unlock, but they are roughly the same. The preset torque is also the knob scale plus the steel handle imprinting scale. After the torque value is preset, it can be used after being locked. When the preset value is reached, there will be a sound or vibration alarm.

2. Digital torque wrench

Advantages: LCD window reading, multiple working mode switching (peak value, tracking), multiple unit switching (N.m, ft.lb, in.lb), head ratchet head is divided into replaceable and non-replaceable series according to brand, preset value acousto-optic alarm, torque value can be observed in real time when stressed, common wrench for torque detection, accuracy is about 1%, some brands come with numerical storage wifi connection printing function.

Disadvantages: the price is relatively high

Usage: Since the digital torque wrench is a high-precision digital torque measuring tool, the wrench is internally filled with electronic components, which is very different from the preset mechanical wrench. Usually need to charge or install the battery to use, the button function of the panel is also different from the manufacturer. Similarly, the main functions are similar, the use is not complicated, the specific operation can see the wrench matching instructions.

3. Dial type torque wrench (pointer type)

Advantages: traditional dial reading, can be used for general detection, positioning in the middle of the preset and digital display.

Disadvantages: The head is a fixed head and needs to be used with a sleeve. There is no ratchet retraction function, and the accuracy is about 3%.

How to use: The dial generally has two pointers, "black" active and "red" driven. The active pointer rotates with the force and drives the driven pointer at the same time. The driven pointer needs to be set to zero manually and does not rotate with the change of the force to facilitate reading.

4. The process of how to use the torque wrench

1. Set the required torque value with the torque wrench and turn the locking device to the lock position;

2. Adjust the torque from the small value to the large value. If it exceeds the set value, adjust it back to below the set torque value;

3. Do not adjust directly from the maximum value to the minimum value;

4. Check whether the driving head is suitable, or select a suitable adapter;

5. The center of the grip is the position where the force is applied;

6. Before applying force, please make sure that the wrench is indeed combined with the object to be applied;

7. The application of force shall be steady and slow. When the sound is heard, the application of force shall be stopped after the spring is released;

8. After use, the set value needs to be turned back to the minimum scale;

9. For the use of large torque wrench, the operator should pay attention to the center of gravity of the body.

5. Summary:

Because I often see that some users have many problems in the purchase of manual torque wrenches, for example, they often don't know what type to choose, or how complicated the use requirements are, whether their own workers can operate well, and whether the wrench is durable, etc. This side made a simple comparison, through the above basic knowledge understanding, roughly classified as follows:

1), the ease of operation: digital display> preset> dial type

Because digital display can be classified as electronic products, torque setting, mode selection and the use of some key combinations, there are still certain requirements for workers' understanding ability. Of course, digital display is not required for general work stations, and testing is mostly used. The preset type only needs to adjust the torque, which is easier to learn, while the dial type uses traditional pointer readings, and the torque does not need to be adjusted, as long as it is used within the torque range.

2), torque use accuracy: digital display type> dial type> preset type

3) Difficult degree of reading: digital display type (direct value display)

4) price: digital display> dial type> preset type (specific price can be directly consulted by merchants)

5) In terms of brand selection, if the requirement is absolute quality, the precision of procurement or other requirements for use are higher, and the price and delivery period are secondary, then choose to import. This is no problem, although there are high tariffs and brand premiums for imports.

Of course, if you need to consider comprehensively, maximize purchasing benefits and pursue cost performance, domestic torque wrenches are also a choice. Although the development history of domestic torque tools is shorter than that of foreign countries, domestic torque manufacturers have also blossomed everywhere in recent years, and the research and development technology has also been greatly improved. The performance of wrenches is comparable to that of imported ones, and the price is several times cheaper.
