Advantages and Challenges of Industrial Internet Development

There is no doubt that the Internet has entered the second half of the competition, with "algorithms, computing power and data" as the growth driving force, the target group is no longer consumers, but enterprises in all walks of life. With the "Internet of Everything" possible, the Internet has also shifted from the "consumer Internet" to a larger and deeper industrial Internet. In May 2020, Tengxun Cloud officially released an industrial Internet platform based on big data applications to promote the digital and intelligent development of manufacturing industry and help the digital upgrading of traditional manufacturing industry. On August 1, Aliyun released ET Industrial Brain Open Platform. Based on this platform, partners can easily realize industrial data collection, analysis and modeling, and quickly build intelligent applications. In September, Tencent announced another strategic upgrade, hoping to embrace the industrial Internet, become a "digital assistant" in all walks of life ".

The advantages of China's large-scale promotion of the industrial Internet lie in two aspects. On the one hand, the enthusiasm of enterprises is strong, and the listing of Foxconn Industrial Internet Company has greatly encouraged the industry; on the other hand, there is strong support and promotion of national policies, which gives the industry great confidence. However, the industry generally believes that the development of the industrial Internet still faces many challenges, and the difficulties focus on four aspects: standardization, complex system management, robust communication infrastructure construction and network security.

First, standardization. Industrial Internet to a variety of goods and services inside and outside the factory network, then, communication methods, data formats and many other content need to be standardized. Nowadays, on the international standardization stage, the reason why developed countries such as the United States, Germany, and Japan have been able to maintain a dominant position for a long time is because of their strong comprehensive manufacturing strength. At present, my country still plays the role of "audience" on the international standardization stage, which reflects the side. There is a gap between the overall level of my country's manufacturing industry and foreign countries. China's manufacturing industry has been relatively weak in product design and production process control, lack of standardization, but also lack of international standardization thinking.

Second, complex system management aspects. After the actual production process is coordinated with various business management system networks, the system as a whole becomes more complicated and its management will be more difficult.

Third, robust communication infrastructure construction. Mainly refers to the construction of communication infrastructure with high reliability suitable for industry. Of course, in this regard, China Telecom Xinjiang has a lot of layout. In early June, China Telecom launched the unveiling of the industrial Internet base in Xinjiang.

Fourth, network security. In the era of industrial Internet, after the factory is networked with the outside world, the danger of malware intrusion and network attacks will be further increased, and the demand for network security countermeasures and solutions will be more vigorous.

Latest progress of industrial internet

In general, the Industrial Internet is considered to be divided into four major parts-network, identity, platform and security. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "2020 Industrial Internet Pilot Demonstration Project List" in November, and 72 projects from four aspects of industrial Internet network, logo analysis, platform, and security are on the list. The 40 platform integration innovation application pilot demonstration projects involve 15 listed companies, namely Dongfang Guoxin, Jidong Cement, Neusoft Group, Angang Steel Co., Ltd., Huayu Automobile, Hongdou Co., Ltd., Zhongtian Technology, Qingdao Haier, Langchao Software, CITIC Heavy Industry, Sany Heavy Industry, Baiyun Electric Appliance, Midea Group, Industrial Fulian and TBEA.

In the process of the development and growth of the industrial Internet, the established enterprises in various industries are the absolute protagonists. The launch of their respective industrial Internet platforms is only the first step. The next step is to see how these companies can use their respective expertise to create their own new industrial ecology in the industrial Internet. Here, individuals are more optimistic about the Industrial Rich Union (full name is Foxconn Industrial Internet Co., Ltd.).

Through the horizontal connection of the intelligent factory manufacturing system on the decentralized value network, in the process of product development, production, sales, logistics and service, with the help of software and network monitoring, communication, according to the latest situation, flexible and real-time adjustment of production scheduling, instead of completely following the plan of a few months or years ago. In this regard, Foxconn has made many attempts and has the foundation to realize the industrial Internet.

Future development should start with three "CM"

Of course, with the national policy in place, there is also a direction for the industry in the future. As a result, there will inevitably be large-scale policy support in the next few years. However, the research on the direction of technology, especially in the theoretical innovation and industrial research of the industrial Internet, is not enough. The author believes that industries and enterprises should start with three CM's to develop industrial Internet.

CM(Concurrent Manufacturing, parallel manufacturing), refers to the manufacturing process will be parallel, transparent, flat, to achieve the true sense of intelligent manufacturing. The parallel intelligent manufacturing process will break through the constraints of the limited resources of the physical world by using the massive data and information resources of the network world. In this way, you can design and develop, purchase raw materials and parts, organize manufacturing, and carry out marketing, thereby reducing operating costs, improving production efficiency, shortening product production cycles, and reducing energy use.

CM(Cloud Manufacturing, cloud manufacturing) is simply a new manufacturing mode and new means based on ubiquitous network to realize interconnection, service and personalization. It integrates offline resources (parts, production workshops, production equipment, capital and workers, etc.) online and attracts different enterprises upstream and downstream of the value chain to participate in design, production, service and other links, to achieve the sharing and complementarity of various resources.

C2M(Customer-to-Manufactory, customer-to-factory) is a business model around consumers. It is a "pull" supply chain system that takes consumers as the center and provides its own standardized modules for consumers to selectively combine. It uses the industrial Internet platform to form the ability to drive and lead the global industry chain, and then realizes multi-variety customized rapid production through intelligent manufacturing.

China-Germany Industrial Internet has its own characteristics

At present, the networked information space and the actual physical space can form a collaborative space, and the future manufacturing industry will also enter the era of collaborative manufacturing through the industrial Internet. In the industrial Internet, the United States to promote enterprises as the main body, GE joint Cisco, IBM and other industrial Internet alliance, aimed at promoting a new round of industrial upgrading in the United States, focusing on the factory IOT, intelligent equipment, intelligent data and intelligent decision-making four key areas. In other words, the traditional digital mining numerical control (PLC data acquisition and numerical control machine tools and other digital control) in the era of automation will be developed to predictive decision-making (predictive maintenance and intelligent decision-making based on big data).

The industrial 4.0 promoted by Germany is essentially the Internet advanced manufacturing industry. It is mainly based on industry organizations and leads the German industry giants to promote a new round of industrial upgrading in Germany. The main purpose is to build smart factories and smart manufacturing.

In 2021, the industry faces a trend of segmentation.

At present, the industrial Internet does not have a mature architecture and big scene support, even Germany's Siemens, the United States GE and other companies are still only in the architecture and try stage. In fact, the development of the Industrial Rich Union is indeed facing some difficulties at present, which is also a microcosm of the development of the global industrial Internet platform, reflecting the arduousness of building an industrial Internet platform.

The road of transformation and upgrading is not so simple, the industrial Internet is just a tool, how to implement it in the future? What new problems will the industrial Internet encounter? These are still to be tested by time.

First of all, the trend of industry segmentation will become more and more obvious in 2020. Prior to this, Sany Heavy Industry, Xugong and other industry leaders have launched industry-level industrial Internet big data platforms to collect big data in their respective fields. Industrial Internet platforms for vertical fields will be the first to break through and be recognized by users. Secondly, industrial APP will be transported and expanded. With the platform, the ecology will naturally be derived. Just like Apple provides many APP downloads based on iOS platform and many apps based on Google Android platform through App Store.

In the future, with the maturity of the industrial Internet platform architecture and the further opening of API interfaces, industrial APP will also develop rapidly. The traditional architecture of industrial software is embedded software and non-embedded software, mainly stand-alone software and mostly confined to the factory, while industrial APP is a new architecture based on industrial Internet platform industrial application software. Compared with the original relatively "solidified" industrial software, industrial APP will break the architecture, give birth to new formats and ecology, and provide new business models and services.
